MEDICAL RECORDS DISCOVERED AT ALABAMA DUMP
 
According to the website of WSFA in Montgomery, AL on June 22nd, a couple found a folder containing personal medical information near the local landfill and sparked an investigation that led to the discovery of a hundreds of files in and around a garbage truck parked there.
 
The records came from a well known regional hospital.  Reportedly the spokesperson expressed surprise and concern about the discovery and the hospital has promised an investigation.
 
The article did not mention whether or not the issue would be pursued as a violation of HIPAA.
