CANADIAN INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS RECOMMENDS NAID-CANADA

By invitation, NAID-Canada provided counsel to the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) during the development of their white paper on records management.  That report was just formally released and includes a detailed section on information destruction, including a direct quote from NAID-Canada’s former chair.  You can access the report here.

The report provides suggestions and tips on paper and electronic information destruction, on-site versus off-site shredding, and what to consider in a contract with a shredding providerThe report recommends that when selecting a shredding provider, organizations should “ensure that proper due diligence has been performed, proper reference checks have been received and whether the service provider has been accredited by an organization such as the National Association for Information Destruction.”

The Institute represents 75,000 chartered accountants and 12,000 students in Canada and Bermuda.  CICA conducts research into current business issues and supports the setting of accounting, auditing and assurance standards for business, not-for-profit organizations and government.  NAID-Canada welcomes CICA’s attention to information destruction and is very pleased to be cited in its white paper.
