MASSACHUSETTS DATA PROTECTION LAW EFFECTIVE MARCH 1

December 6, 2009- Privacy experts are warning the Bay State’s businesses to pay attention to what many believe is the strictest data protection law in the country, which will be effective on March 1, 2010.
 
Notable for NAID Members versed in the NAID Compliance Toolkit, the law states that any organization that “owns, licenses, stores or maintains personal information about a resident of the Commonwealth shall develop, implement, maintain and monitor a comprehensive, written information security program applicable to any records containing such personal information.”
